Founded by architect Preethi Pathireddy, The Indian Peacock is where her decade-long journey in architecture meets her deep-rooted love for texture, form, and cultural heritage. An Ivy League alumna, Preethi has always been intuitive in her design approach, drawing connections between structure and softness, craft and utility. What began as a personal exploration of India’s textile legacy soon grew into a brand committed to slow fashion and conscious living.

We collaborate with handloom artisans across India. Jamdani weavers of West Bengal, Ikat weavers of Telangana, handblock print artisans of Rajasthan, and Mangalgiri weavers of Andhra Pradesh. They are not vendors, but partners. We know their craft, their processes, and their stories. We support them with fair wages, and consistent work, not just seasonal demand.

This isn’t about “modernizing” traditional craft. We do something simple: we make their work wearable for everyday life.

We design structured shirts, versatile kurtas, and thoughtfully made coord sets for everyday wear. We don’t approach craft as fusion or occasionwear. Our intent is to bring handwoven textiles into the rhythm of life, to be worn often, lived in, and relied on. Because craft survives not through occasional admiration, but through relevance and consistent use.

A handwoven garment becomes something you reach for week after week. Instead of a mass-produced alternative, it creates quiet continuity. It keeps looms active, skills relevant, and livelihoods steady. Handloom survives not through admiration or occasional wear, but through everyday choices that keep the craft alive, relevant, and in motion.

This is how we reclaim the narrative: by putting artisan craft back to where it’s always belonged.

Indian Peacock isn’t rescuing artisans, they need markets, respect, and fair economics. We’re providing that. We’re not preserving tradition in amber. We’re proving it’s alive and necessary.

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) hosted Ekam 2026, a vibrant in-person engagement event that brought together its online learners from across India and abroad, offering them a rare opportunity to connect with peers and faculty members on campus.

A total of 497 students enrolled this academic year in various online programmes including MBA, MCA, BCA, BBA, BCom, MCom, MA-JMC, M.Sc. Mathematics, and MA Economics, participated in the one-day annual event. Designed as an interactive platform, Ekam aims to foster collaboration, networking, and holistic development among online learners.

The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. The occasion was graced by Dr. N. N. Sharma, President, MUJ; Dr. Amit Soni, Registrar; Dr. Nitu Bhatnagar, Provost; Dr. Mallikarjuna Gadapa, Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE); and Mr. Ambrish Sinha, CEO, UNext Learning Pvt. The congress is the triennial global conference of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the organization founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1929.

Co-founders Pavan Goyal and Munira Hussain will lead an official breakout session at the congress on May 3rd — the same day that Dr. Adele Diamond (Canada Research Chair Professor of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience, University of British Columbia) delivers her keynote address. On May 3rd, 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00, Pavan Goyal and Munira Hussain will lead the session ‘Montessori and Innovation: A Design Thinking Workshop for a Changing World’ — confirmed on the official AMI Congress programme at montessoricongress2026.org/program. The session is listed alongside breakout sessions by Junnifa Uzodike and Simone Davies (co-authors of The Montessori Baby and The Montessori Child, translated into over 30 languages).

The session combines a presentation on how Montessori pedagogy builds innovative capacity across the developmental continuum with a hands-on Design Thinking workshop where educators and students practise together as active collaborators. Participants — both adults and young learners — work through empathy, ideation, and prototyping in real time.

The session draws on Blue Blocks Micro Research Institute’s 19-year longitudinal data panel of 1,047 Indian children across the AMI Montessori continuum from birth to 18 years — the only data panel of its kind in India. The pre-registration for this congress presentation is published with open access on OSF (DOI: 10.5281/OSF.IO/ST9H2).

“The session demonstrates the Blue Blocks approach in real time,” said Pavan Goyal. “Children are not just capable of learning — they are capable of designing, constructing, creating, innovating, and inventing. Not someday. While still at school.”

Blue Blocks Adolescents at the Congress
Blue Blocks adolescents will also be present at the congress, sharing the story of SBB-1 — the CubeSat satellite payload designed and built entirely by school-age students at Blue Blocks — alongside presentations by adolescents from Montessori schools worldwide.

SBB-1 received formal authorization from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), Department of Space, Government of India, under reference PMA/IN-SPACe/AUTH/2026/115 — the first such authorization issued for a payload whose primary engineering authorship sat with school-age learners. The payload was integrated with ISRO’s PSLV-C62 launch vehicle. The launch experienced an anomaly during the ascent phase on January 12, 2026, and the payload was lost along with the rest of the manifested cargo, through no fault in the SBB-1 hardware, which had completed its full qualification campaign.

Blue Blocks treated the loss not as a programme failure but as a documented research protocol. Three independent observation streams were active across the build and launch period: the engineering record, the learner-development record tracking how adolescents processed a public and irreversible loss, and the programme-level record. Blue Blocks Micro Research Institute holds the position — explicitly and on the record — that an educational programme whose outcomes are inadmissible to failure cannot be a serious vehicle for adolescent development.

At the congress, Blue Blocks formally announces SBB-2 — the second-generation student-built satellite payload. SBB-2 will be designed by the next adolescent cohort, with SBB-1 alumni serving as mentors and reviewers. Three methodological improvements distinguish SBB-2: an external academic partner involved from the concept phase, a pre-registered observation protocol with an external co-investigator, and an independently auditable data pipeline for any on-orbit data received.

The student presentation also highlights additional innovation outcomes: five patents filed by school-age children in drone design, dedicated to Dr. Maria Montessori on her 150th birthday, and ongoing work in biomimicry, space education, and autonomous vehicle systems — all designed and built by students within the AMI Erdkinder framework.

“These are not students presenting a school project,” said Munira Hussain. “They are the engineers who designed, prototyped, tested, and built a satellite payload that received formal authorization from the Government of India. They are presenting their own work, in their own words, to the world’s foremost Montessori community.”

हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार ने 1 जनवरी, 2016 से 31 जनवरी, 2022 के बीच सेवानिवृत्त हुए या सेवा अवधि के दौरान मृत चतुर्थ श्रेणी के कर्मचारियों के ग्रेच्युटी और लीव इनकैशमेंट के शेष 30 प्रतिशत बकाया को तत्काल जारी करने के आदेश जारी किए हैं।

मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंद्र सिंह सुक्खू के निर्देशानुसार राज्य सरकार ने 1 जनवरी, 2016 से 31 जनवरी, 2022 के बीच सेवानिवृत्त हुए या सेवा अवधि के दौरान मृत चतुर्थ श्रेणी के कर्मचारियों के ग्रेच्युटी और लीव इनकैशमेंट के शेष 30 प्रतिशत बकाया को तत्काल जारी करने के आदेश जारी किए हैं।

प्रदेश सरकार के प्रवक्ता ने आज यहां बताया कि राज्य सरकार पहले ही इस अवधि के दौरान अंतरिम राहत के रूप में पहली, दूसरी, तीसरी और चौथी किस्त तथा मूल पेंशन और मूल पारिवारिक पेंशन पर महंगाई भत्ते की 12 किस्तों का भुगतान कर चुकी है, जिन्हें पेंशन/पारिवारिक पेंशन के बकाया के साथ समायोजित किया जा सकता है।

उन्होंने कहा कि संबंधित पेंशन वितरक प्राधिकरणों को यह सुनिश्चित करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं कि इस भुगतान के बाद सेवानिवृत्त चतुर्थ श्रेणी कर्मचारियों की ग्रेच्युटी और लीव इनकैशमेंट से संबंधित सभी बकाया राशि का संपूर्ण भुगतान सुनिश्चित हो।

आम आदमी पार्टी के सात राज्यसभा सांसदों के भाजपा में जाने से राज्यसभा और पंजाब की राजनीति में बड़ा उलटफेर हुआ है। पार्टी के 10 में से 7 सांसदों के पाला बदलने से सदन में आप की स्थिति कमजोर हो गई है और नंबर गेम पूरी तरह बदल गया है।

आम आदमी पार्टी के सात राज्यसभा सांसदों की बगावत पर ख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने सोशल मीडिया पर तंज कसा है। एक्स पर उन्होंने पंजाबी में लिखा-अदरक, लहसुन, जीरा, मेथी पाउडर, लाल मिर्च, काली मिर्च और धनिया – ये 7 चीजें मिलकर सब्जी का स्वाद बेहतरीन बनाते हैं, लेकिन अपने आप में ये “सब्जी” नहीं बन सकते।

भाजपा का पलटवार

पंजाब भाजपा के प्रदेश प्रवक्ता प्रितपाल बलियावाल ने सीएम मान के तंज पर पलटवार करते हुए कहा-मान साब, बिल्कुल सही! अदरक, लहसुन, जीरा, मेथी पाउडर, लाल मिर्च, काली मिर्च और धनिया, ये चीजें सब्जियों को स्वादिष्ट बनाती हैं लेकिन अब ये सारे मसाले आपकी रसोई से गायब हो गए हैं, जिसका मतलब है कि अब आपकी 27वीं सब्जी बेस्वाद हो गई है और पंजाबियों के खाने लायक नहीं रही! आने वाले दिनों में आटा और नमक भी गायब हो जाएगा।

जो गद्दार थे, वे खुद ही चले गए

मान ने कहा कि सत्ता साजिशों से नहीं बल्कि लोगों के दिलों पर राज करके मिलती है और जो गद्दार थे वे खुद ही चले गए। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि बेअदबी विरोधी कानून लागू होने के बाद से भारतीय जनता पार्टी लगातार उन्हें और उनकी सरकार को कमजोर करने की कोशिश कर रही है।

मान ने कहा कि धोखा देने वाले सांसदों को पंजाब के लोग जवाब देंगे और भाजपा का राज्य में कोई ठोस आधार नहीं है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि भाजपा बदले की भावना से काम कर रही है और डराने धमकाने लालच देने और दल-बदल के जरिए आप सरकार को अस्थिर करने की कोशिश कर रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि पंजाब के लोगों ने भाजपा को बार-बार नकारा है और अब भी जनता सब देख रही है।

सियासी चालें चल रही भाजपा

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि भाजपा का पंजाब में जनाधार नाममात्र का है इसलिए वह ऐसी सियासी चालें चल रही है। आप की ताकत आम लोग हैं और पार्टी अपने सिद्धांतों व क्रांतिकारी सोच के आधार पर आगे बढ़ रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि पंजाब के लोग विश्वासघात करने वालों को कभी माफ नहीं करते और इतिहास गवाह है कि जिन्होंने भी जनता को धोखा दिया वे राजनीति से खत्म हो गए।

मान ने कई पुराने उदाहरण देते हुए कहा कि कमालू मानशाहिया जैसे नेताओं को भी जनता ने समय पर जवाब दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि लोकतंत्र में पार्टी सर्वोपरि होती है न कि वे व्यक्ति जो अपने स्वार्थ के लिए दल बदलते हैं।

भाजपा का असली नाम कड्डे-छड्डे पार्टी होना चाहिए

सीएम ने भाजपा पर तीखा हमला करते हुए कहा कि उसका असली नाम कड्डे छड्डे पार्टी होना चाहिए क्योंकि वह अपनी वॉशिंग मशीन से दूसरी पार्टियों के नेताओं को साफ करने का दावा करती है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि भाजपा सिर्फ दूसरी पार्टियों को तोड़ना जानती है क्योंकि उसके पास भरोसेमंद नेतृत्व की कमी है।

मान ने कहा कि भाजपा ने देशभर में कई दलों को तोड़ने की कोशिश की। उन्होंने ममता बनर्जी उद्धव ठाकरे और शरद पवार के उदाहरण देते हुए कहा कि इसी तरह नवीन पटनायक दुष्यंत चौटाला और नीतीश कुमार जैसे नेताओं को भी निशाना बनाया गया। मुख्यमंत्री ने स्पष्ट किया कि ऐसी सियासी चालों से पंजाब जैसे लोकतांत्रिक राज्य में सफलता हासिल नहीं की जा सकती और जनता ही अंतिम फैसला करेगी।

जिला मुख्यालय के त्यूड़ी बाजार में स्थित शराब ठेके पर वीरवार रात नकाबपोश युवकों ने लूट की वारदात को अंजाम देकर दहशत फैला दी। चार अज्ञात युवक बाइक और स्कूटी पर सवार होकर पहुंचे और गंडासा दिखाकर सेल्समैन को धमकाते हुए करीब 35 हजार रुपये नकद, शराब की आठ बोतलें और मोबाइल फोन लूटकर भाग गए। वहीं पुलिस ने दो टीमें गठित करके पंजाब के लिए रवाना कर दी हैं। एफएसएल की टीम ने साक्ष्य जुटाए। पुलिस थाना सदर ऊना में दर्ज एफआईआर के अनुसार शिकायतकर्ता विनोद कुमार (35) निवासी गांव चनौर तहसील डाडासीबा जिला कांगड़ा ने बताया कि वीरवार रात करीब 10:45 बजे वह दुकान के अंदर दैनिक बिक्री का हिसाब कर रहा था।

इसी दौरान चार युवक मुंह पर रुमाल बांधकर ठेके के बाहर रुके और बीयर कैन मांगने लगे। जैसे ही वह फ्रिज की ओर बढ़ा तो दो युवक अंदर घुस आए। इनमें से एक ने गंडासा उसकी गर्दन पर रख दिया और जान से मारने की धमकी देकर पैसे पूछने लगा। दूसरे ने उसे जबरन कुर्सी पर बैठा दिया। इसी बीच तीसरा युवक अंदर आया और गल्ले से नकदी, शराब की बोतलें और मोबाइल लूट लिया। चौथा युवक खड़ा निगरानी करता रहा।

एचपीयू शिमला ने सौ सरकारी कॉलेजों के 120 प्राध्यापकों को पीएचडी सुपरवाइजर के रूप में मान्यता प्रदान की है। यह निर्णय नई राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 के प्रावधानों के अनुरूप लिया गया है, जिसमें शोध और नवाचार को संस्थागत स्तर पर विस्तारित करने पर जोर रहेगा।

हिमाचल प्रदेश विश्वविद्यालय (एचपीयू) ने बड़ा प्रशासनिक निर्णय लेते हुए सौ सरकारी कॉलेजों के 120 प्राध्यापकों को पीएचडी सुपरवाइजर के रूप में मान्यता प्रदान की है। विश्वविद्यालय की जारी सूची के साथ ही यह व्यवस्था लागू हो गई है और चयनित प्राध्यापक अब शोधार्थियों का औपचारिक मार्गदर्शन कर रहे हैं। इससे विश्वविद्यालय पर दबाव कम होगा। यह निर्णय नई राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 के प्रावधानों के अनुरूप लिया गया है, जिसमें शोध और नवाचार को संस्थागत स्तर पर विस्तारित करने पर जोर रहेगा। पहले पीएचडी सुपरविजन विश्वविद्यालय के विभागों तक सीमित था, लेकिन अब कॉलेजों को भी इस प्रक्रिया में शामिल कर दिया गया है।

विश्वविद्यालय ने स्पष्ट किया है कि यह जिम्मेदारी केवल उन्हीं प्राध्यापकों को दी गई है, जिन्होंने निर्धारित योग्यता, शोध प्रकाशन और अनुभव से जुड़े मानकों को पूरा किया है। स्क्रीनिंग और मूल्यांकन के बाद अंतिम सूची जारी की गई है। इस फैसले के बाद प्रदेश में पीएचडी मार्गदर्शन की उपलब्धता सीधे तौर पर बढ़ गई है। शोधार्थियों को अपने नजदीकी कॉलेजों में ही सुपरवाइजर मिल रहे हैं, जिससे विवि परिसरों पर निर्भरता घटी है। दाखिला लेने, मार्गदर्शन और संपर्क की प्रक्रिया सुगम हुई है। इससे शोधार्थियों की संख्या में भी वृद्धि हो रही है और विभिन्न विषयों में नए पंजीकरण हो रहे हैं। शिक्षकों के स्तर पर भी बदलाव सीधा प्रभाव डाल रहा है। सुपरविजन की जिम्मेदारी मिलने के साथ ही प्राध्यापक शोध परियोजनाओं, प्रकाशनों और अकादमिक गतिविधियों में शामिल हो रहे हैं।
